Journal 10
An obstacle that i have had to face in my lifetime was having a child at such a young age. I was pregnant and 14 and had my son Jayden at 15. I knew from the moment that I would keep my child and although I knew it would be hard I would get through school and continue my education. Despite everyone telling me otherwise I have moved out on my own, I'm graduating in 3 days, and my son Jayden and I are so close. he is my bestfriend and I love him to death. I don't believe he made me any less successful. In fact, I believe he motivated me to prove to everyone who doubted me that I could graduate and get good grades as well as be a good mother. I am very excited for him to see me walk across the stage in a couple days..<3

Journal Valentine for Soldiers
You could do this same activity with children of childhood age. If you give them a picture to color and ask them to write a note, they would really enjoy it. In order to make it easy for these children you could make a letter that is written out but they have to fill in blanks and color. This activity is beneficial because it teaches you about a holiday and about everything that the soldiers are doing for us.

Journal 10
An obstacle that I have had to face is not having confidence and not believing that I was good enough. I used to always compare myself to others and get frustrated if I wasnt good at everything. But now I realized that having confidence makes you better at whatever it is that you want to accomplish. Another obstacle I faced was when my grandpa was diagnosed with cancer on New Years and recently died. It was the first loss I have had to face at an age that I could actually understand what was going on. It made me realize that you need to appreciate everyday that you have with someone.

Journal 9
This quote reminds me that before you judge somebody else or feel bad about your own experiences, you need to remember there is always somebody who has it worse. Say for example that you get mad at your parents. Before going and complaining about how horrible they are, remember that there are people out there that dont have their parents and would give anything to have them. You need to realize that your life isnt as bad as it could be.

Journal 7
I agree with Supernanny's ways of discipline. I think that it would be a lot easier to follow some of these guidlines, though, with your own children rather than with children at a childcare because some parents do not agree with the same things that others do for punishment. But, the tips on how to talk to the children and when or when not to praise or punish them could still be very helpful. I also think that it is very important that you have a set of rules that you stay consistent with with all of the children and a set schedule so their routines are the same.

Journal 6
When I was younger I always used to carry around my giant stuffed animal dog. I would treat it like it was a real person and whenever I felt sad I thought that it was always there for me. It reminded me of my favorite pet dog that died which made me even more attached to it. It is sentimental to me because it brings back memories of my childhood.

Journal 5
What suprised me most aboout the child abuse unit was how these child abusers would be able to do these things to children and not even be fazed by it. It just shocks me. I can wrap my mind around ever being able to do that to an innocent child and think nothing of it. I also dont understand why some abusers only target one child and none of the other ones. I feel so bad for the kids that have to deal with those situations, it must be so horrible. Finally, I learned that if you notice any warning signs at all you should act right away to get that child help. The child will most likely be to afraid to just tell you.

Journal 4
I believe that our society really has changed because of technology. Kids to not go outside and play nearly as much as they used to and they compare their actions to their video games or tv shows. I believe we are able to see some extraordinary sights because of TV, but not all of them. Also, I think that it is still a lot more fun and interesting to see these things in person rather than on a screen. Finally, the children today are starting to become almost addicted to technology. Many kids can sit on and Ipad or Ipod or watching TV for hours playing games and not even care. This is a big reason why the obesity rate in children is going up.

Journal 3
If I could choose beauty or brains I would choose brains because they can take you farther in life. Brains will get you good grades, a good job and many other opportunities. Beauty may get you things when you are younger, but once people start to mature they care more about your personality rather than looks. Sure, good looks can help you to be noticed but, your brains and personality are what people will remember once they get to know you.

Journal 2
When I was a child, my ideal job was to be a professional basketball or softball player. I still want to have a job dealing with sports but one that is more reasonable to acheive. I now want to be a physical education teacher for elementary school as well as a high school coach for basketball and/or softball.
